Annette Schrauwen holds a chair of European Integration, in particular citizenship law and history, at the University of Amsterdam. She graduated in European Studies at the University of Amsterdam, where she also defended her PhD thesis on the concept of the internal market in European law. She is editor of Legal Issues of Economic Integration .
The main focus of the research of Annette Schrauwen is on migration within and to the EU as well as on the concept of Union citizenship. Current research projects include the 'dark side' of EU migration and free movement law leading to exploitation and unequal distributive effects within the EU. Her current research focuses on the health care sector, including long-term care. The research of Annette Schrauwen is embedded in the research program of the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance (ACELG).
